As Lexington council members prepare to vote on next year’s budget, there remains uncertainty about money coming into the urban county government.

Finance Commissioner Bill Omara updated council on revenues last week.  He says income was down almost a million dollars at the end of April compared to the budgeted amounts.

“We do have pressures on our revenues.  We’re going to specifically be watching the net profit returns and how those come in,” noted Omara.  “We are managing through by controlling expenses, so that we feel that we will have a balanced budget, if not an additional fund balance by June 30.”

Council members have been making their changes to Mayor Jim Gray’s recommended budget.  A final vote is expected in a few weeks.?
