Storm damage recovery is underway in the Stamping Ground community of Scott County. National Weather Service investigators are labeling the storm an EF category 1 tornado. It plowed through Parker’s Mobile Home Park early Monday. County Judge-Executive Joe Covington said he doesn’t remember this type of storm before at this time of year. “I do not. I do not. It’s strange, you know, 4:30 in the morning in December is a strange situation no doubt,” said Covington.
Covington said four trailers suffered significant damage with one turned upside down. He said it had four adults inside. “They were able to leave the trailer. They had to crawl out on their own. They had some minor injuries but no serious injuries,” said Covington.
Assistant Chief of Prevention and Fire Marshall Tim Thompson said, after evaluating properties, ten structures were condemned.
The county judge said the Red Cross was called in to help those displaced. Covington noted a shelter was also established at the Stamping Ground Christian Church.
