Governor Beshear indicated during his daily coronavirus briefing Tuesday that it appears Kentucky has reached a plateau when it comes to COVID 19 cases.

While launching a new initiative aimed at helping businesses re-open safely, Beshear said acting too soon could create a second spike in cases. “Making sure we do this right and now having the second spike means the light at the tunnel is closer than it’s otherwise going to be, that we don’t take two steps forward and three steps back,” said Beshear.

The governor continues to stress the importance of beefing up coronavirus testing.  As that testing increases, Beshear says the focus will not be on the sheer number of new cases as much as the rate of new cases.  He says city, county, and state governments are all looking to Washington for additional federal support to help restart economies.  Governor Beshear announced the highest one day number of deaths with 17.  He reported 177 new COVID-19 cases.?
