Emergency response to a scenario where a nerve agent rocket was punctured with leakage came during an exercise Wednesday in central Kentucky. It was part of the annual drill at the Blue Army Depot and nine other counties.
Blue Grass Chemical Activity Deputy Commander Jamie Hall noted the operation went well, even with fewer on site workers due to coronavirus. “We were making sure all decontamination is being done in accordance with current SOP’S, standard operating procedures. All of our essential elements of information were reported on time and accurately,” said Hall.
The disposal of nerve and mustard munitions is underway at the Madison County installation. Hall said the exercise was intended to tie into operations which are expected to begin the end of this year or early in 2021.
