Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education President Aaron Thompson is hoping state lawmakers will hold the line on public university pension costs

Gov, Matt Bevin has called for a special legislative session to start th

is Friday morning.  Thompson said any major increase in employer contributions to meet pension obligations could lead to cuts in other areas. “We are at a place where we constantly are getting these cuts that will soon or later have severe harm.  It’s already starting to have harm, but severe harm to the way we’re doing business.  Providing an education for our young people and old alike actually.”

This pension bill, offered by Bevin does include a one year freeze on pension rates.  The legislation also affects many quasi- government agencies across the Commonwealth.?
