According to the National Coalition against domestic violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. In honor of Domestic Violence month, we will talk to survivors and advocates alike to get a better perspective on what goes on behind closed doors.

Diane Fleet: Assistant Director at Greenhouse 17, Lexington: a domestic violence shelter serving 17 counties in Kentucky.
Lisa Murray: Survivor of domestic violence herself: she even petitioned to Senator Barr after suffering immense abuse.
Amy Schumacher: Her brother Todd, 40, was stabbed and killed by his partner in a domestic violence situation in January 2015 in Lexington.
