On Friday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported more than 1.7 million Kentuckians have received at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine. But the average number of vaccinations have declined over the last several weeks.

A little more than 28,000 shots went into arms during the final week of April. That is a big drop from the first week of April and the final weeks of March when more than 100,000 doses were administered.

It’s the lowest number of shots given in a single week since December.

On Friday, Beshear announced 723 new cases of the virus and 4 new deaths. That brings the commonwealth’s death toll to 6,501.
