$13.4 million in federal funding is being distributed to 11 different airports across the Commonwealth.  That word came Thursday from U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell’s office.

The money will be used to support operations during the coronavirus crisis.  According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the funding can be used for costs ranging from operations to personnel to sanitization and combatting the spread of pathogens at airports.  The largest chunk of federal money, $12.3 million goes to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Other allocations ranging from 13,000 to $23,000 went to airports in Richmond, Falmouth, Georgetown, and Frankfort.
