The National Park Service is taking public comment for a proposed increase in fees at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
The changes would affect fees for guided tours, picnic shelter rentals and certain camping areas at the park.
The NPS says the rate hike would keep it in good favor with the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, which requires fees be comparable to other parks in the region.
Fee rates at Cumberland Gap have remained much cheaper at other parks in the area. Tour and shelter rental fees in particular have not changed in more than 15 years.
The public comment period will continue through September 4. The park service says changes could be put in place as early as October.
The park plans to implement the new rates over the next three years. Specific information about the proposed increases is available here.
