Veterans and their family members attending Eastern Kentucky University will have the opportunity for more aid starting in Fall of 2025.
The Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass Joint Venture presented the university with a 100-thousand dollars gift to support veterans education. The donation will create an endowed scholarship for veterans and their families.
EKU President David McFaddin said the university has a long relationship with Bechtel Parsons.
“This is a culminating investment in the spaces and the people who do that work and it's going to be really exciting to have an endowed fund that is going to make a college degree possible for the veterans and those veteran family members who may pursue a degree at EKU.”
McFaddin said this will be beneficial to many of the university's student body.
“The largest affinity group of students on our campus is veterans and veterans' family members. Makes up over 1800 of our students here at EKU. We are best of vets in Kentucky in our region and number two in the nation for serving our military service members, their family members and their spouses.”
McFaddin said the new scholarship from Bechtel Parsons group will help expand access to higher education for veterans and their families through financial support.
Bechtel Parsons is the company that worked with the Blue Grass Army Depot to destroy the the stores of chemical weapons.
