Save the Children is working to provide meals to kids this summer in Kentucky.
With the rising cost of groceries and gas more people have had a hard time affording food in Kentucky. Getting to where the help is has also been difficult when trying to access food in the Commonwealth.
Alissa Taylor is the Kentucky State Director for Save the Children.
"Transportation is a huge barrier for families to get the food that they need," Taylor said. "A lot of food pantries are open only for a few hours during the week, and they need transportation to get there to secure the food.”
Taylor says the nonprofit is working with about 30 different counties and more than 100 food banks to help feed kids and families this summer.
