Reforest the Bluegrass, Lexington’s annual volunteer tree planting, is coming up this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday, April 18, at Coldstream Park, the site of Reforest the Bluegrass tree plantings in 1999 and 2024.

Volunteers can be of all ages and will receive lunch and a T-shirt. Preregistration is not required, but participants must sign a waiver on-site.

The planting will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Saturday, April 25, Fayette County residents can pick up free trees for Reforest at Home.

Large shade and small flowering tree seedlings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a limit of five trees per household, including two small ones.

Pickup points are Jacobson Park, Coolavin Park and Shilito Park.
