Kentucky’s congressional delegation reacts to U.S. attack on Iran

The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran last weekend. Most of Kentucky’s congressional delegation has posted statements about the attack, ranging from support to condemnation.
The Trump administration said the attack was meant to destroy Iran’s missile capabilities and navy, and to ensure the country cannot obtain a nuclear weapon. The attack also killed Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Sen. Mitch McConnell, alongside Reps. Andy Barr and Hal Rogers, have all posted statements supporting last weekend’s strikes on Iran:

Rep. Brett Guthrie, who represents much of central Kentucky, said on social media he’s mourning the American servicemembers killed during the U.S. military’s campaign. He’s also previously made posts condemning Iran and in support of Israel.

Rep. James Comer, who represents much of western Kentucky, has not made a social media statement and has not yet responded to a request for comment. In an interview with WNKY, a television station based in Bowling Green, he also voiced support for the strikes:
“It’s unfortunate that we’re having to do this, but I support the president and support our troops,” he said. “I think this was something that unfortunately had to be done, and hopefully this will bring stability in the region.”
Others say they oppose a conflict in Iran, and are condemning the Trump administration for attacking the country without approval from Congress. That includes Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Louisville as the state’s lone Democratic representative:

Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Thomas Massie, both Republicans, have also voiced their disapproval. Both politicians have a reputation for disagreeing with Trump on certain key issues. Massie in particular said he plans to introduce a war powers resolution blocking further military action in Iran:
