Nolin Lake State Park to stay closed until further notice because of April flooding

Nolin Lake State Park is closed this weekend, and until further notice.
State officials say that’s because of extensive flood damage and dangerous conditions after flooding last April.
Water hasn’t yet fully receded from much of the state park. That includes trails, the beach, buildings and the boat ramp.
That comes after a site visit earlier this month by representatives from the state’s Finance and Administration Cabinet and Parks Facilities Management.
FEMA officials were also set to assess the park, but their visit has been delayed until the end of June. Edmonson County is still under a federal disaster declaration, and any cleanup and assessment at Nolin Lake has to comply with FEMA.
State officials say they’re developing a timeline for the park’s recovery. Some areas, like the campground and some critical facilities, might be closed for the long-term. They recommend not visiting the park in the meantime, including for boating.
Parts of other state park facilities are also closed because of flooding.
That includes the Fort Boonesborough State Park campground, Green River Lake State Park campground, parts of the Goose Greek Biking Trail at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park, the Barren Lake State Resort Park pool and the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park campground.
