Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority holds first public meeting

The newly formed Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority held their first public meeting Tuesday.


A law passed this past legislative session created the group to research how to potentially implement the energy source in the Commonwealth.


They’re expected to present a workforce and education study at the start of next month to the state legislature, as well as another study for the best locations for nuclear facilities by the end of next year.


It’s not expected that a nuclear power plant will be built in Kentucky for at least the next decade.


It also comes as a land deal was made last June for a potential laser uranium enrichment facility in Paducah.
