Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky's secretary of state, predicts a statewide voter turnout for Tuesday's presidential election at between 62 and 64 percent. That could be a record turnout, she said. But the early onset of winter weather and its impact on Eastern Kentucky could affect turnout there, Grimes said.As of the Oct. 9 voter registration deadline, the state had 3.037 million voters - up 4.5 percent from 2.9 million in the 2008 general election.
Republicans gained 10,000 new voters over Democratic registrations, Grimes said, but Democrats still hold a lead over Republicans in the state - 1.65 million to 1.15 million.
