Lexington Police Department

A young woman has been charged with Driving Under the Influence and may face additional charges following an accident that killed a child.

According to the Lexington police, several witnesses saw Sequoyah Collins speeding and running a red light before hitting another car near the intersection of Tates Creek and Landsdowne.

When police arrived around 3 a.m. on July 5, the two adults and four children in the car were all injured and transported to the hospital. As of Friday afternoon, one child has died from their injuries.

Collins, who is 24, was not seriously injured and was placed under arrest. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
