Investigation continues into the death of two children ages 5 and 13 in Lexington

Lexington police continue their investigation into the stabbing deaths of two young children Monday. Their biological mother now faces murder charges.

Lexington police say the double homicide occurred Monday night on Rogers Road. Upon arrival, officers located three injured individuals. All three were transported to the hospital.

The Fayette County Coroner said 13-year-old Deon Williams and five year old Skylar Williams died as the result of multiple stab wounds. Police say 43-year-old Nikki James has been charged with two counts of murder. Additional charges are pending.

Fayette County Schools Superintendent Demetrus Liggins issued a statement saying, “Skyler and Deon brought joy and light to their teachers and classmates and we ask our community to uplift all those touched by this unimaginable loss.” Teams of grief counselors went to Mary Todd Elementary and Winburn Middle to support students and staff.
