Fayette Health Department Modifies Certain College Student Covid Reporting

The Fayette County Health Department is instituting a modified coronavirus reporting method for certain college students in the Lexington area.

Lexington post-secondary students who tested positive for COVID-19 October first or later and were living in Fayette County during their exposure will be counted as a case recorded in the central Kentucky County.

Most students who choose to isolate outside the county will be included in the health department’s daily reporting. It covers both in and out of state students.  The outside jurisdiction will still be responsible for isolating and monitoring the new cases.

Fayette Health Department Spokesman Kevin Hall said it will likely mean a slight uptick in cases.  Hall noted Monday, six UK students fell into that category.?
