Ninth Annual Lexington Dining Out For Life to Support AVOL Services

For the ninth year in a row, hundreds of individuals and families will go out to breakfast, lunch or dinner and, at the same time, help support a local service organization.

A total of 43 Lexington restaurants are participating in this year's Dining Out for Life.

Lexington-based AIDS Volunteers or AVOL is the sponsor, organizer and beneficiary of this event.

AVOL Community Engagement Manager Anthony Smallwood says the concept of the fundraiser is simple.

“You literally just show up at the restaurant. You eat. You drink. You pay your ticket. Twenty-five percent automatically gets donated back to us.”

Money raised during Dining Out for Life will benefit AVOL's work to stop the spread of HIV and support those already affected in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Smallwood says this year's fundraising goal is $100,000.

“Our big goal this year is to push ourselves over that $100,000 mark because, of course the more money we raise, the more people we can help.”

Dining Out for Life continues from 7:00 this morning through 11:00 tonight.
