Kentucky motorists are benefitting from a drop in gas prices. A virtual start to instruction in many school districts is anticipated to affect the price at the pump.
Triple A reports Kentucky’s gas price fell four cents on average over the past week. Triple A Bluegrass Spokeswoman Lori Weaver Hawkins says August is pricing out to be the second cheapest start to a month in more than a decade. She noted prices could drop even further with many students not in school, which could drive down demand in the weeks ahead.
Since an updated weather forecast calls for additional tropical storms through November, Weaver Hawkins added gas prices can be significantly impacted by major storms and hurricanes which can take gasoline infrastructure and refineries offline.?
