$1M Bond Set For Man Who Confessed To Killing Versailles Boy, Town Mourns

kentucky.com
A Gofundme site has been set up for Logan Tipton and his family.

The stabbing death of a kindergartner as he slept in his bed has plunged a central Kentucky town into mourning. After the arrest of a stranger, shaken neighbors are rallying around the family.

Police say Logan Tipton was killed before dawn Monday when a knife-wielding intruder broke into his family's home in Versailles and stabbed the boy. Thirty-two-year-old Ronald Exantus of Indianapolis has been charged with murder and first-degree burglary.

Authorities reported no motive even as neighbors raised funds online for the family, including funeral expenses.

Bridget Hofler, an attorney appointed for Exantus, says she questioned her client's mental competency. She said at his arraignment that he was unresponsive when she asked him about his background and family.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports Exantus’ bond was set at $1 million during a Woodford District Court hearing just hours after the killing.
