Josephine Sculpture Park (JSP) will celebrate their dedicated members with special guest andEmmy-winning artist Ben Sollee on April 7, 2024 from 2 to 6pm at the event barn. Over the past twodecades of creating and performing, Kentucky native Ben Sollee has delighted audiences with hisgenre-defying mix of folk, bluegrass, jazz and R&B. Sollee has also demonstrated deep commitment tosocial and environmental justice.
In addition to an intimate concert, the party will also offer opportunities to connect with other membersthrough art activities, park exploration, delicious Community Que food truck (for purchase), and guidedtours by Melanie VanHouten, JSP Founding Director, and Lucy Azubuike, JSP Artist in Residence andFrankfort artist. Better Together is breaking down employment barriers by hosting a series of background-friendly job fairs across the country on April 16 and 18 as part of its Nationwide Days of Second Chances. In Lexington, a job fair will be held April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Bluegrass Community Church at The Nathaniel Mission, 1109 Versailles Rd.
To support job seekers who are faced with challenges to re-entering the workforce, Better Together’s Days of Second Chances brings churches, volunteers, businesses and nonprofits together to host a coordinated job fair day that features background-friendly employers and provides resources including free one-on-one job coaching sessions to review resumes and interviewing skills, clothing and haircuts.

Bluegrass Youth Ballet wraps up its 20th Anniversary Season with a performance of an original ballet, "Art Rhapsody"
The show follows the janitor of an art museum who moves from gallery to gallery, trying to find the origin of a mysterious gear. Each gallery room contains a work of art that comes to life through dance. "Art Rhapsody" features various famous artworks such as Girl with a Pearl Earring, Starry Night, and American Gothic. Additionally, work by Kentucky sculpture artist, Steve Armstrong, is featured.

Tickets purchased online through Ticketmaster will have additional fees. To waive these fees, patrons can purchase tickets in person via the Lexington Opera House box office at Rupp Arena, open 12pm-4pm on Wednesdays and Friday.

James Baker Hall was a Kentucky writer, Poet Laureate and photographer who made an impact on generations of Kentucky writers through his teaching at the University of Kentucky, his writing and photography. He was a member of the famed “Fab Five” group of Kentucky writers as well as the genre defining Lexington Camera Club. To continue his legacy, Hall’s family has created the James Baker Hall Foundation which will hold its opening event on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Center for Literacy, 251 W. 2nd St. in Lexington, Kentucky. The free event will introduce the goals of the new foundation’s mission and vision to provide direct support to Kentucky artists to keep the unique voice of Kentucky strong.
The celebratory event will feature readings by Affrilachian Poets Frank X Walker and Marta Miranda-Straub as well as Robert Gipe, Maurice Manning and Cecilia Wolach. The program will also feature reading by the current Kentucky Youth Poet Laureate, Zoya Abbas, who attends Lafayette High School in Lexington.
