Thousands of teenagers will be sporting blue corduroy jackets in Louisville this week as the National FFA Organization Convention returns to the city for the first time since 2005. The Courier-Journal says the four-day gathering is expected to bring close to 60,000 people to the city, generating about $40 million for the local and state economy.
The convention was held in Louisville from 1999 to 2005 and will alternate between Louisville and Indianapolis for the next several years. Numerous events are planned during the convention. One activity being held Thursday is the Chevron Products Co.'s Tractor Restoration Competition finals. The Grand Champion will win $10,000.Some attending the convention will participate in the National Days of Service and are expected to provide more than 16,000 hours of community service.
