Powerball and the D.C. lottery are being sued over a website mistake

A MARTÍNEZ, HOST:

Good morning. I'm A Martínez.

D.C. resident John Cheeks is suing Powerball and the D.C. lottery after learning that a winning lottery ticket for $340 million was not legit. His lottery numbers match those on Powerball website, but they were sample numbers from an internal test on the site, according to court documents. Cheeks says he was told to throw the ticket in the trash. Instead, he decided to throw hands in the legal system.
