Clerk Inadvertently Helps Ga. Woman Win Powerball

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

Kathy Scruggs was looking for work after losing a seasonal job last spring. She was also looking for a bit of luck when she bought a Mega Million ticket. The real luck came when the store clerk gave her a different lottery ticket. The Georgia woman hit the jackpot with that Powerball ticket. On Monday, she took a break from her job hunt to collect her winnings of more than $15 million. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
