Jobless Claims Stayed High Last Week

There were 427,000 first-time claims for jobless benefits last week, the Employment and Training Administration just reported.

That's almost unchanged from the 428,000 of the week before and still well above the level — 375,000 or below — that we would typically see if job growth was strong.
