Jerry Lewis says he'll croon his song, "You'll Never Walk Alone" for the last time this year as host of the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual telethon. He released a statement saying this Labor Day Weekend Telethon will be his last. Lewis will continue to serve as the organization's national chairman.
Lewis, who's 85, has hosted all prior MDA telethons, back when it began in 1966 on a single New York television station, garnering $1 million dollars in pledges, according to the AP.
Lewis will be able to host the whole thing, instead of retiring early, as he's done in recent years. Last year, the MDA decided to cut the length of the mammoth 21-plus hour show to just six hours, saying 'less is more'. It'll air on Sunday, September 4.
