Tintin, like Babar, has suffered a bit in modern readings. I grew up with the books, oblivious as a child is to things like possible personal politics drawn into the storylines, and loved them. I believed Tintin and Snowy were capable of anything, and chuckled every time Captain Haddock exploded in a cloud of curses like "Billions of blue blistering barnacles!" So I'm pretty excited about the trailer for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin:
The animation, in these quick glimpses, is incredibly sharp, but at the same time it still seems to capture some of the watercolor quality that makes the books so beautiful. I hope that's not just wishful thinking!
